Granite Reef Recreation Area, March 15, 2024

I’m catching up on posting photographs. This post is from Granite Reef Recreation Area on the Salt River, which Mary Ann and I visited on March 15, 2024.

We didn’t have much time due to other commitments, but we decided to get out, if only for a couple of hours. We arrived at around 8:00 AM (it’s a 25 minute drive from home), and left at 10:00 AM. Due to the time, we weren’t able to visit some of the nearby spots we usually go to, and we only hiked the west trail at Granite Reef. We hiked down to the dam, but weren’t able to access the river from there because of a stream flowing into the river from the recent rains.

We only saw a few of the usual birds to photograph. The Vermilion Flycatchers were there, as is normally the case. There were a lot of water fowl, but too far out in the river to get good photographs. I got the requisite picture of Red Mountain.

I also included some pictures of common flowers from our backyard. Even these are beautiful when they are photographed up close.
